Coronation Celebrations

Children across the Trust have been enjoying the festivities this week with special events to celebrate King Charles’ Coronation.
The Trust gifted each child a Coronation themed book and bookmark, with the children in key stages 3 and above receiving a commemorative badge.
At Thornhill Primary School the children dressed in red, white and blue and enjoyed a special picnic lunch, followed by an afternoon of fun activities organised by ‘Friends of Thornhill’.
At Flimby Primary School, family members were invited to enjoy a special afternoon tea in the playground alongside the children. Thanks to Maryport Council for their donation to make the event happen and for gifting the children a commemorative mug for the occasion.
Children at Dearham Primary School enjoyed a Coronation Fair, where they took part in lots of fun activities including the popular ‘soak the teacher’. The school gardening club also created royal scarecrows for the occasion.

At West Lakes Academy the celebrations focussed on King Charles’ passions, including horticulture and volunteering. They are also taking part in a whole school art project to decorate a commemorate bench in the school yard. Students also enjoyed a themed lunch.

Arlecdon Primary School enjoyed a Coronation themed picnic lunch with family members.
